So I was thinking this week of all the enrichment activities our little branch has. I do knitting(badly we are making a dish cloth, mine looks like a Rabbi's hat), Book club, and a Scripture Study Class(out of the preach my gospel manual). I took a class on digital scrap booking, and we have also had a few lunch get togethers.
So it made me wonder what you are all doing? Anyone feeling super enriched. What are your favorite activities?
I think we need classes like ..."Oh no, my home teachers are coming where do I hide my mess". or "How to say no classes"(is that just me?) or "surviving sacrament meeting with kids, with your pride( the righteous kind) still intact". Man those little suckers are humbling. Is the secret cough syrup? I swear if it is I am going to try it. or" How to turn a bag of tatter tots into a dinner everyone will love". or " Dump the guilt" classes, or "How to feel sexy in sweatpants"the list goes on and on.
What do you all do?

Oh Darsha, we truly miss you and your humor. I'm so glad I found your blog. We just had a Super Saturday here combined with another ward and there had to be close to 12 different activities. Some of them were making beaded jewelry, glass etching, making hair bows (flowers) and my favorite was a glass block with the nativity scene on it with Christmas lights inserted (I'll add pictures to my blog once I get it done). But in true Tina fashion, I broke one of the glass blocks and didn't complete anything else I signed up for. Maybe this is why I'm still in YW! Hey but I would be all over a class on "How to lose your Relief Society arms in 30 days!"
Love it! When I first got here I needed friends so bad, so the first thing I did was ask the R.S. if there were any enrichment groups--and there are not! Not a one. I told her I'd teach one or help out if they wanted, and they called me to be enrichment leader. I feel like I am exactly the one to tell someone else how to create the perfect enrichment program, but to have to do it myself with a bunch of ladies I don't know...kind of overwhelming. I have a new respect for enrichment leaders, and I feel lucky to have been in so many good ones.
I always like a blogging class, of course, because it's my obsession. One of the wards out here has a cinema group, where they go to movies. There are also dinner groups, frozen dinners groups, family history groups, there's even a food group (ha) where there's a different theme each month. Last month it was chocolate, and I hear it was a smashing success. =)
By eating white bread. No, serious. There's so many little classes going on here all the time I don't know what is going on. I'm SO mad about Tina's super saturday. No one has ever done the glass blocks and I nearly did them myself last year for gifts--I even bought the blocks from Home Depot--but I was too afraid to use the glass drill-bit. Is that when you broke it Tina? I think another good class would be "How to tell other sisters what they are doing wrong without hurting their feelings or at least making it look like you didn't mean to hurt their feelings even though you really did." :-)Smashing.
I am so on for how to feel sexy in sweat pants-can you teach me darsh?? YOu could always do a book club, I think there is this great book called Kite Runner...have you heard of it? So life changing! J/K Our last few wards were lame, although in VA we had a great time doing a monthly dessert/karaoke night...I laughed at first but it was seriously SO FUN!. The applebees here doesn't do karaoke though so I can't suggest it to my new RS Pres. Miss you guys!
guys I love the ideas. Movie club and karaoke night with dessert. what a blast. How hard is this glass thing? I am not even sure what your talking about.
Tina about the arms. I feel your pain. Cheer up, I think guys think it's sexy when they waddle when you wave right.
Love-ity love love the picture at the top of your blog! little lo is my favorite. I think there should be a class on warding off the perils of dry feet, or how to get your mascara to stay on all day.
Your new photo up top is classic. Love it. You guys are hilarious.
My new goal is to eat out of food storage 2x a week and while I know you all probably don't have a lot of food storage over there, I'd love a REAL class on GOOD recipes from food storage. *Not just cracked wheat...
BTW cute header. You are getting good at this. I think I need the "how to feel sexy in sweat pants" or "how to keep a sense of humor after handwashing another pair of poopy underwear".
Umm, yeah. No kidding you're getting really good at blogging.
As for enrichment activities. I'd sign up for pretty much anything if it meant time away from my tt's (stands for terrifying three, not terrible twos). I'll just have to continue with my online bookclub until I can actually have a life outside of my apartment. Sigh. . . BTW, Kite Runner is an excellent book club book. So is A Thousand Splendid Suns, by the same author.
